The Sampler

Hey Kel,

I got my sampler this week - super fun..

And I've put it all back in the envelope so you can have a go at the fun when you come visit, that is you can reopen the package and take everything out piece by piece - and I'll even let you have a few things too!

Woo Hoo

Dear Kel,

Woo flippin hoo! We made it to the World Cup. What a great night. I'd like to formerly thank the neighbours, who don't have cable and so had a three second advance on us on the cable telecast and cheered/booed allowing us to participate with slightly lower/higher blood pressure as we could hear them readily over the balcony.

What a night. Needless to say, at almost 2am, I have been celebrating and will most likely regret it in the morning.

A charcoaled BBQ and many many beers were consumed before a group shouting/dancing tv front celebration at the final penalty shoot out goal scored.

We made it to the world cup!

Yipeeeee

Hawt round too

Dear Kel,

OK that post was lame, sorry! Here's a randomly plucked photo from my photos that need to be filed - umm lets make it a random craft photo...

OK so it wasn't a strictly craft photo. It was lasagna. I made it a couple fo weeks ago. Thankfully I also took the photo a couple of weeks ago and it is not sitting in our fridge after a couple of weeks. It has long been digested. Doesn't look very appetising does it. Trust em, it was I even put a chorizo in there to be sure!

No lasgana or any type of oven cooking (other than baked gifts) for a while...too hot. We were all about the BBQ tonight.

Oh and we bet on the Melbourne Cup too. I've only ever been in a sweep before. So I even semi studied the form guide (I nearly typed style guide!) and decided not to tip what everyone else was blindly tipping (ie the favourite). I thought I was so tuff...till about two and a half minutes after the race started - when the favourite won.

Ha.

Hawt

Dear Kel,

It's so hot here today. Too hot to blog. I fear our electricity bill will consume us this year. We have had the fan on all day long...not just one but several. And I thought we wouldn't use as much electricity in summer as we did in winter. WRONG. And it's not even summer..it's still spring.

Like I said...too hot to blog.

Nephew Bragging

Dear Kel,

I am so pleased you're back from Fiji!

I don't have mucht o report tonight but I can tell you a small tidbit of exciting news - Sam is crawling! Yep after months of showing no desire (who would when u know how to get ur Mum and Dad to get things for you) he is now crawling around. Of course apparently he would rather do the assisted walking thing - where he holds on to Mum or Dad's hands but at least now he can crawl if it takes his fancy.

Can't wait to see him when I'm in Sydney in November.

All Saints should be on now (I know I know, I just can't let it go from my life) if the silly dancing with the stars is over.

playing in the park

Dear Kel,

This weekend we had some Sydney friends and their two kids drive all the way down to hang out last night and today. It was really nice to see them. We were to deliver on the long outstanding promise that the kids could stay the nite on their own tonite - but being that Vic doesn't have a public holiday tomorrow they would have had to get up early early and it would have been more of a chore than fun. So we bargained them out of staying tonight by promising two whole nites of staying on their own some time around christmas. I can't wait. They're ace kids and we have lots in common - for example the four of us all love similar toys. Of course we probably have that in common with all kids, but it's nice to think it's unique only to the coolest kids - the ones we like.

So after spending 4 hours eating breakfast and showering and procrastinating with play we finally headed out for an adventure the tram which ended up at the Ian Potter Foundation Children's Graden in the Botanical Gardens. That place is H-O-T let em tell you. It's all purpose built and there's a stream and a kids veggie patch and fountains you can play in in your undies (if it's your first visit and you didn't realised there would be reaosn for getting wet) or your cossie (if your been before and your parents understand just how feasible it is that a child would want to run through spurting water for 4 hours in a row).

The kids were over joyed - although mindful of not missing the closing of the icecream shop - and played till the last possible second when the lady who rang the bell to signal closing tiome hunted us down and followed us ringing the bell giving us such a subtle hint that it was time for us to hightail it outta the front gate.

As I said it was fun.

Here's where the kids spent heaps of time digging. The chaleenge issued on a small sign on a garden stake was to find an ant and a worm which the kids managed to find and a slater, which they didn't find.

It was all terribley exciting.

We ended the day sitting on the grass and the kids ate lemonade gelato (which was really just lemon gelato) while the adults laid around. I snuck off to the gift shop and bought kids each some souveneirs to which they replied upon presentation of said souveneirs..."what's a souveneir?". Hilarious. I got them a slab of nicely packaged slab of plaster with a couple of plastic dinsoaurs hidden inside, a multi coloured pencil and a rubber with the Commonwealth Games mascot on it. The dinosaur thing was a winner and they both ripped the cardboard and plastic off and started "digging" with the skewere digger tool and brushing with the special little brush until they each unearthed a dinsoaur while their Mum and I made snide remarks about how we could just put the blocks in the batha nd dissolve all the water - but where's the fun in that I suppose.

ANyway it was a great weekend and I had a blast. I am buggered and sunburned and pleased to hear the Tiges got up in the NRL grandfinal. As Mum told me I was afterall a Tiger and so I shouldn't dare think about going for the Cowboys.

Gotta get my sunburned face to bed!

A picture says a thousand words..

As long as it's viewed while reading along with yesterday's post...

Focaccia's Masterpiece:

Now she's onto her next masterpiece I might auction her first one (comeplete with scratched up files - you never know what goodies you might find in them) on Ebay.

More Birthday dinner...and shining examples of mature dinner table behaviour - although there was reference here to the two bogan brothers from "We could be Heroes" (that recent mocumentry on the ABC)

Smell My Finger and other exciting tales

I should have set a better example to myself by blogging more often - I only started this thing last week and already I let it fall down low on my to do list! It's not that I don't love ya Kel, it's just that my fun computer time is far less now that I've rejoined the rat race and the last thing I kinda want to do is be on a computer at night after sitting in front of one all day. But this blog isn't about work so that's all about that for now.

So, let me tell you what's really happening...starting with the right here and now....

Focaccia is driving me insane...she won't use her scratching post and instead chooses to scratch the still packed boxes in the computer room here - check this out:

And now she's starting on a new one.

It's a pain cause she especially loves to come into the study and work on her masterpiece either while I am at the computer or at some time in the middle of the night when the house is sleeping.

I guess it's our fault for not unpacking all the boxes when we moved!

I had all these photos to post but blogger won't play my the game by my rules and you know how I like to get my own way. I'm going to bed. I'll just post photos tomorrow and you can have fun going back to today's post and trying to match where they fit!

Oh and so you can do the puzzle with all the pieces I was going to include a couple fo photos from Matt's bday dinner last weekend. We went to a great Greek taverna to reminise about our time in Athens last year. We took a table full of very mature, well behaved friends who entertained the birhday boy by wearing prawn heads on their fingers then playing "smell my finger" and ensuring that one prawn head always ended up in close proximity to Ms C! Hinarious.

Night night love B x

PS Still no desire to spell check...you love it but.

Computers suck

Dear Kel,

So I was all excited and ready to get online last night and write the very first entry in my blog dedicated to keeping in touch with you...the computer however had other ideas. Somehow it temporarily wouldn't allow me to access any site on the web other than the web providers. Hmm...I am a conspiracist at heart, as you know, so I am wondering what conspiracies were at play here.

Anyway I wasted 15 minutes of precious sleep time on the phone waiting for the tech support monkeys to pick up the phone - which they never did. But just like magic when I logged on tonite it was all there. Computers suk.

The other thing that didn't go according to plan today was my photo taking. "Take photos of stuff you get up to during the day so I can see" you told me the other day on the phone. So I dutifully packed my camera into my handbag earlier this week. I got it out at lunch time ready to take a picture but alas (like the battery in my old mobile) the batteries were flat! And what a shame it was too.

This being my first football season in Melbourne, and me being fortunate enough to see my team in the Grand Final for the first time in almost a decade, I scored myself a convenient city based meeting whose end co-incided with my lunch hour whose start coincided with the start of the annual Grand Final parade.

The Grand Final Parade - it's out of this world! Outside of the Olympics I have never seen a city and it's tourists care so much about sport! And where, pray tell, have all these Sydney fans been for the past couple of years? In all the years I lived in Sydney I never saw so many fans yet here in Melbourne they number in the 10s of thousands.

Whoever thought I could be a footy tragic?! Ali, that's who! She proudly held her banner high in honour of our teams super star player and she roused on me for not holding my side of the banner straight enough and for being shy and not being tragic enough! I even got int trouble for being considerate of the little kids whose pushy Mum's whispered behind our backs "don't worry kids these people in front of you will give up their spots for you". Now, I love kids, as you know Kel, but it's not my fault my tragic footy friend got to the parade barrier before anyone else in the city did while Mum behind us was late. People can be so presumptuous.

So anyway back to the photo debarkle. I wanted to take photos. I couldn't cause of the battery. The kids next to us got on the telly. I told ALi not to let me be seen on the telly coz I was too embarrassed. Actually the real reason was cause I wondered what my work colleagues would think I was doing so far away from the office during my lunch "hour"!

OK, I had heaps more to tlel you but the 15 minutes of sleep I lost last night to the ISP support monkeys has caught up with me.

Yawn (oops I hope this post didn't make you yawn!)

Miss you.
